the Arzibandi Blues Festival in central Italy, he has performed numerous times in New York, Rome, and Moscow. Albert has played such NYC venues as The Knitting Factory, The Va Va Voom Room at Fez, Joe's Pub, and the famous Five Oaks piano bar. He has recently begun working with the gospel choir at St. James Church in Harlem.
In 1998, Mr. Garzon was invited to join the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus and subsequently spent two years as the Bindle's piano man, writing classic circus music including the "Bindlestiff Waltz" and a ragtime workout entitled "Mr. Pennygaff's Gaff". Besides performing in numerous Bindlestiff shows at the Brooklyn Brewery in Williamsburg as well as Yale University, Garzon traveled with the Circus to New Orleans where he performed at Tipitinas, Mermaid Lounge, and the Audobon Hotel. In 1999 Albert joined the American Vaudeville Theatre and worked closely with Trav SD on a number of productions. Albert Garzon is one of the few American pianists to have mastered the Argentine Tango. He has performed tango's with The Va Va Voom Room, with the Bindlestiff's "broken glass walking" act, and at other tango venues in and around New York. It's interesting to note that Garzon's grandfather was the guitar player for Argentine tango legend, Carlos Gardel. Check out Gardel's movie "Tango Bar".
Since 1999 Albert has worked with Brooklyn blues diva Lex Grey. Together they present an act called the "Down and Dirty Lounge" and perform rarely heard blues from the 1800's and turn of the century. Other musicians that he's worked with include Natalie Merchant of 10,000 Maniacs (producing), Alex Chilton (co-producing), Todd Rundgren (engineering), Charles Ward of The Ink Spots (piano), Jayne County (piano) and Brian Fisherman.
Albert Garzon can provide hours of entertainment as a piano soloist, with a vocalist, or with a jazz combo. He can play any style from classical (he plays lots of Chopin with The Va Va Voom Room) to turn of the century ragtime, to 1920's swing, to Thelonius Monk, and beyond.
