Matthew Mohr is a whirlwind of creative talent, spanning dance, music, and event design. He is a classically trained dancer and has performed with The Merce Cunningham Dance Company. For the past seven years, his headliner act, the French Beat Poet /Danse Plastique Styliste/Bongo-iste/Conceptualiste, SERGE LE GAINSWACK, has wowed crowds at New York City burlesque venues such as The Va Va Voom Room, The Slipper Room, Show, crobar, and Coney Island as well at various special events with his jaded hot beat jazz dancing and jejune emcee stylings.
The hilarious, eclectic, and crowd pleasing sounds of his DJ techniques have been featured at such NYC hotspots as The Frying Pan, Show, and The Slipper Room, as well as for the 2003 MTV Music Awards, Britney Spears' record release party at Show, Google's holiday event, a Chase Manhattan Bank formal dinner, New Year's Eve 2005 at Soho House NYC, and The Bessie Awards. Matthew has also been the resident DJ for special events for The Merce Cunningham Dance Company for the past seven years
His unique combination of choreography, theatrical design, and event design have made him a Ziegfeld-like producer of burlesque and vaudeville entertainment including The Wigstock Dancers, The Pink Rhino Review, The Glamazons, Les Boys, solos for a variety of burlesque luminaries, and custom production numbers built to order for spectacular special events that get rave reviews. His set designs have graced many New York stages to critical acclaim by the New York Times and have been featured at The Guggenheim Museum of Art and in various Sony Music videos.
